I didn't realize the 5D could use a mouse. Cool, but sucks that it doesn't work now.

Turn it off. Turn it on again. Still have the same problem?
07/29/2009 12:20:43 AM · #8
maybe check your settings to make sure you didn't disable the touch pad or something by hitting an unknown sequence of keys?

(there is something I can hit on my laptop that causes the page to scroll to the bottom. no amount of playing with the scroll lock helps. i simply have to reboot and try again.)

You have a compaq? on the top of the touchpad is there a little light that is red? If so, click the button (usually on top of the touchpad) to enable it.

Send me the 5D, and I'll send you a new Compaq. You'll be up and running in no time.

It's probably something to do with the shielding on the 5D so turning the laptop off then on again without the camera near it should reset it. If not, it's probably just coincidence that it stopped working at the time it did.

Hehe... reminds me of a co-worker who was frantic that she had "broken" her mouse while dusting around the keyboard. It was uncontrollable because she had turned the mouse backwards (with the wire facing toward her).

if your compaq is like mine, I can understand how you missed it. It is not that obvious. I only know about it because sometimes when I type my hand hits the pad and moves the mouse, so I turn it off when I am going to be typing for a long time.

You can quite often set the mouse orientation in the control panel so that it completely reverses all the directions.

Even if someone knows what you've done it's hilarious to watch them try and control the mouse to get back into the control panel and correct it.

we do that type of thing at school all the time. you just plug your mouse into the computer next to you and you get to mess with the person for a minute before they figure it out:)
