I got this one also. Sent to Citibank. Was reading it, like, what the HELL. This person can't even spell! How do you expect me to believe a business would send this? Kinda funny after I looked at it a bit.

This makes me have less and less faith in people! It's rediculous what people will do!

A month ago, my best friends grandmother received her phone bill, and it was over $1000! Plus she was signed up for the internet and had an ISP and everything! Someone charged over $900 in Porno Calls on her phone and through her phone company signed her up for the internet. She is now battling in court against the phone company not to pay the bill! She is one of the sweetest women I know, and I can't believe that someone would have the nerve to do this to a little old lady!

Just shows how people are asses!

I also get the penis enlargement emails.... I mean, come on... just cuz I don't have one, don't mean I want to grow one! Dumb people! LoL

I have Norton internet security...it's a small pain in the neck but, I never get ANY email from people I don't know..updates are twice a week these days and you have to keep on top of it...but it's well worth the 40 bucks a year...also, I'm alerted to "trojan horse attacks" whatever the heck that is....but, it happens about 3 times a day...I can actually see who,(their ip address) what, (what they are trying to do) where (a map with location of the person(s))and when it happens and the software suffiently blocks it. I think it is the upgraded version of Norton antivirus..FYI you can order it here www.symantec.com

I was having lunch with a colleague in San Francisco a few months ago and the FBI phoned him on his cell phone to confirm that he was in San Francisco. They asked him a few questions to confirm who & where he was. They then asked if he had used his ‘business credit card’ at some specific locations in San Francisco over the previous day and a half, which he had. They then informed him that someone Hong Kong had just purchased 20 thousand dollars worth of cloths & jewelry at one location and got a cash advance of 10 thousand dollars in another! To say he was SHOCKED is an understatement. He was then informed that the FBI credit card fraud task force was investigating a ‘ring’ of people that would ‘steal’ your credit card identity by running the card through a portable hand held device while taking your card to the cashier to get your bill for you. The info was immediately transmitted to someplace in the orient and a new card & fake ID where produced almost immediatelyâ€Â¦ the crooks were on their way to spending your money. He got off the hook because the FBI was closing in on this ring. They told him to NEVER give your card to someone to get your bill for you, (typically a waiter or waitress at a bar or restaurant).

Of the many programs I have used to stop or filter spam this one is the best.

All of my friends and family using it are quite pleased with its performance.

Yeh I have spam filters, fire walls, trojan protection, anti-spyware software etc, but....that does not stop somebody using your email address and sending out spams. So now I get loads of non-delivery notifcations. Nothing I can do. However, I have now made my email address on my profile here 'not disclosed'. It would be easy for someone to log on as a guest on this site and trawl through the profiles and get our email addresses and use them.

Mike it sounds much like you have as virus in your machine that is taking advantage of certain vulnerabilities in various mail programs. It is much more work to take your email address and set up an account in a different environment than to mail out spam' from your computer. It's all to easy for a malicious software program to be inserted into your computer and use all the address in it to send out the spam from your computer. One easy way to check this is to set up a phony email address in your contacts list. Something like "bogusmail@qurap.com" and see if that bounces back to your mailbox. If it is there is a program in your computer that is running without your knowledge or permission. You can also check for and remove it if found by going to: ... users can also detect and disinfect this and other malicious code using the free, online antivirus, Panda ActiveScan, which is available on the company̢۪s website at //www.pandasoftware.com/. Also, PQRemove //www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ free disinfection tool is available for all users.

Has anyone used Spam Pal as brought up in this thread?
PaulMdx, are you around? :)

I have downloaded it, and installed. I set it up in Outlook Express as instructed, but when I hit send/receive, I get:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'X', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

Spam Pal says to put 127.0.0.1 as the server.

Any suggestions from anyone?

I use SpamPal now for almost 6 month. Works great for me.
Using 127.0.0.1 as server for out- and in-coming mail is OK.
Is this IP also set in SpamPal under Option/advanced/Network? (I hope these terms are correct, I use the German version).
Also, did you set your acctual SMTP & POP3-server in SpamPal under Options/Connections?

Okay. I think it is working now. :)
It was timing out, so I made the time out time longer.
Thanks!
