Why thanks Katherine!

Well, sounds like buddy is an ass supreme, and worse yet an egotistical/insecure one, so steer clear of him. If you can't do that, then ignore him as best you can and don't let him intimidate you - or I'll sic Albert on him!

Now must go find kicking-donkey pic...back soon...*scurrying off*

Oh and whatever you do, don't show this pic to butthead, he'll get all intimidated by the amazing quality of this shot! ;-)

If you had permission from the event people to be there, then just tell the guy to go f*ck himself if he's rude to you.

I don't know what some photographers think sometimes......regardless of whether or not you have the contract for an event, that doesn't give you the right to be a total sh*t.

Katherine, I don't know you that well, but it sure seems to me that you're more wise than your years, have common sense, and are a nice person.

Do NOT let assholes bully you! Common decency is still paramount.

:) you are the second person to tell me im wise today. and i really didnt let him push me around, he left before i could even make sense of what he was yelling at me about. it seems thats what always happens. oh well, i will avoid him. he actually tried to 'push' me out of my shooting spot. like he came and set his stuff on top of "my" fence post, i think it was to make me uncomfortable enough so he could have the good spot. of course I didnt move, so he grumbled and left cause me and two other ladies were chatting it up and being giggly.

Go for it! And once upon a time my sister wanted to start a production company called Bustass Productions - the idea being that while the competition in the male-dominated film world were busy checking out our...*ahem*...you get the idea...we were busy busting our asses AND kicking theirs in the process!

And good on you for standing your ground like you did - and hey if he's getting physical with you, that's at the very least physical intimidation if not outright harassment. You're still a minor fer gawd's sake! Sic the cops on him!

snaffles reminded me of a business name i came up with. you know how if you're talking about some you're going to photograph, you say you're going to shoot them? Well it gets even weirder when you start shooting babies(i got some freaking looks last week from that one).

so...
how about a photography busines called "Hitman Photography" with the slogan, "we'll shoot you anywhere!"

Katherine, yes I think it would be great!! Shop it around first but only to people you trust not to say anything. Things like new business names and ideas have a way of getting taken by others whom are less creative and they will claim them as their own.

REMEMBER to do a business name search, you don't want to get sued (I hear it's all the rage in the USA) for trade mark infringement.

All the best to you and yours.

Obviously from a different country, email him and ask for permission to use it here in the US with a .net.

Actually, what you need to do is check with your state and local business licensing organizations.

It doesn't matter if someone in Tenneesee has the same name.....you're really not a conflict, and as long as you're interested in being regional, no problem.

Also, though I think it's a cute and clever name, I really and truly think that down the road you'll regret it.

You're going to want something in the way of a name that will be neutral enough, yet distinctive enough that it doesn't say anything about what your genre is, but does tell who you are.

Something like Lady K. Imagery would be something that's you (Obviously!), but yet leaves the door open......you're doing a lot of senior portrait work, and some sports stuff......Lady K. Imagery can be known for that for the next decade......well, ten years down the road when you all of a sudden find out that you have a real flair for Trash-the-Dress shoots, in the snow covered Rockies, your name doesn't conjure up any preconceived notions to anyone who hasn't heard of you.

I know I probably wouldn't call someone whose name was Hitman Photography if I was looking for portraits of my daughter, or any other family thing. I'm not sure what I'd be looking for to call a photographer for with that name......and I sure woukldn't call them for wedding photoghraphy.

You don't have to rush into anything.......heck, it sounds like you've got all the work you can handle.....8>)

Katherine Ohlson Photography surely has a nice ring to it, and you wouldn't have to pay any fictitious name fees for that!
