Armed only with my new Panasonic Lumix DX3, the Scarbrough family ventured out to Disney Land in California.

I wanted to test the limits of the image stabilization and the 24mm 2.0 lens. I used the "Scene" mode set to "Fireworks"

Here are some of the better images

All shots 35mm, ISO 80, 1/4 second no adjustments or post processing except for crop (on some) size and USM.

Sure was nice not carrying the 5D II and 24-105 for 7+ hours a day. The Lumix LX3 is a great walk around camera.

You have found the best way to do hand held fireworks without the fear of losing a finger.

Very nice photos David. :)

I was having memories of Roman Candle fights at the university's geology field house. Amazing how nobody got hurt.

Pretty decent shots. So I guess now that you're old and decrepit, and you can't carry your Mark II around... why not send it over to Slippy? ;-)

I guess I thought the "photography" part was understood, my mistake. ;-)

The success rate, camera movement vs steady, was about 40%. Of course there was a lot of bumbing going on with the crowd. Overall I was pretty pleased with the IS performance. The lens on the Lumix is amazingly sharp considering the small sensor size.

As for old and decrepit, not quite there yet, but I feel like I'm on the fast track to geting there now and then!

My flower entry was shot with it. Focuses amazingly close too.

Yes, I meant the LX3, my bad.
