I found a guy on Craigslist selling a Sigma AF 1.4 TC for $30, which was cheap enough to pique my interest. Does anyone have experience with them? I want to make sure it's not going to make my images look like mud if I buy it.

I like mine, or should I say 'liked' mine. It actually fell apart in transit somewhere and I need to replace it. The quality of the picture was great on a 70-200mm and 100-300mm.It's a great converter. I also have the 2X.

I have both the 1.4x and the 2x. The 1.4x is an excellent converter. Use this a lot on my 150-500.

I use the 1.4x on my 50-500. I think it works fine, with the 1 stop penalty and the manual focus. Here's an example:

When I bought my 1.4x teleconverter I read all the reviews and did extensive homework on all the options. Basically they are all about the same image quality wise.
