I just purchased my first house which also means I have my first garage. Hooray!!!! I can now keep my car and motorcycle in a garage......protected! Might not mean much to some but I enjoy having a garage. Now to the point of this thread. An idea I have for my garage decoration involves hanging new and old licence plates from around the US and possibly around the world in the garage. I want to start with a border around the top and go from there.

So if anyone has any sitting around that they are not using and would be willing to mail out I would appreciate it. I'm sure it could be shipped in a sealed large envelope. Shouldn't be too expensive and I'd be willing to paypal some shipping money if you'd like. Please PM me if you like.

Thanks

I collect photos of interesting license plates, but for the real thing I suspect you are in competition with a widespread collectibles market. Legally, I suspect any plates not on a registered vehicle are supposed to be turned-in ... :-(

I had a couple friends give me some that they had in their garage so far and thought more people might have some. I also found a website www.platesusa.com but at $10 a plate or more it could get very pricey for me. They have some really cool ones though.

Check eBay, you can often find US collections with all 50 states plus D.C. for sale. You might also consider a license plate with your birth year and state, as well as those of other family members.

Here, I went ahead and looked for you.

Auto Salvage yards are a good place to start. An old school yard where the cars are piled high in weeds. All kinds of old plates laying around in Trunks and back seats.

I know I have some around here somewhere and I think there are a couple I might not mind parting with. If I find them I'll PM ya :)

Sweet! Just let me know and that auto salvage is not a bad idea. Might try to see how many different ones I might be able to get from them.
