heh, is anyone flying out to this thing? my school wants to fly me out cause they like me a lot i guess:) it would be fun to see a few dpcers there if anyone else is going

its in Las Vegas on October 1-3 at the Mandalay Bay casino

thanks! it sounds like tons of fun, and theres like a bazillion photographers going to be there, im hoping to get some connections from around the country. you never know when they might come in handy:)

well, thats the plan. i still need to make sure they actually go through with it. you know how cheap school distracts are, im surprised they even offered

Thats tempting, but I am already out of vacation days. Boo. Plus im a student, so I get that $149 price. Woo hoo.

Its an investment, you go out there and learn all that jazz, you come back and make that money back (and more!) using what oyu just learned. Its not worth going to if you just take pictures and photoshop them for no other use than having pictures around your house.

Good point! I don't even have the pictures around my house. Just on my computer.

Pshh. Im an adult. The secret is to always have a student ID, even if it means taking one class a year at a community college.

Very cool! Are you staying at Mandalay? If so, there is a ton of stuff to do without ever having to leave the hotel. I was there in April of this year (and last year) for a conference.

im staying next door at the Luxor, they were having a sale; $45 for two of the three nights im staying there

My funds are pretty tapped out, as I'm going backpacking for a couple weeks in August and ::hopefully:: going to New Zealand for three weeks towards the end of the year.
I'm a student, but not a full time student, so if they looked into that I'd have to bite that $599 bullet.
Otherwise it would definitely be fun. Besides, then I could actually say I've met another DPCer :)

Bummer that photo safari is sold out. I bet that would have been AWESOME!

At any rate, I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself even if your mom is in tow and hopefully learn some things along the way.

ETA: You could always petition your school to pay for me as well ;)
