Oh, go suck and egg! I'm tired of your 6.5s!

(I'm allowed to say that, now that you're my Formula DPC partner, right? :D

Lol, well you as soon as portrait starts I suspect i'll be on a somewhat lower score eh

Don't you dare! I suck at portraits--I'm counting on you to keep our score up until we hit a bluebird challenge!

Hey if only we could combine shots... we could have had "Bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover" for geology hee hee

50 votes...

5.54 and 1 comment.

50th vote was either a pinhead or a troll with a 1, dropping me from 5.63xx

Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings.

NO NEED TO SEE A STREET for it to be "street photography".

I'm getting comments about the background being wrong. You can't move your people to a better spot. I really have to start trusting my instincts, I should have gone with the simple, uncomplicated, less interesting picture0--it was visually more appealing. But I didn't think that's what street photography was about...

I did make a comment on one picture saying that it wasn't what "I" would call street photography.
However I did accept that it met the challenge and scored it accordingly.

That's the interesting thing with this challenge--the definition of street photography. I started looking around my streets, but I figured it shouldn't be my suburban neighborhood streets, but should be in a more commercial setting. I have no idea where that came from, but it sounds like a lot of people have very different ideas about street photography.

Personally, I think it's a pretty lame definition.

Just sayin...

I'd suggest entering one of the Street Side Challenges (or look at the thread a few times) if you'd like to get a clearer idea of what the genre is about or go to some of the top SP sites like In Public or a handful of others.

I didn't write the definition, so no I won't be going poking around for sites that offer no immediate interest for me.

Besides, what DPC seems to define a photography genre as, doesn't make it so.

Just sayin. . .

As an observer, not having entered, I'm having a hard time voting higher than a 6. Sorry, but most look like over exposed snapshots, or to me, don't really suit the edgy feel of what I think street photography should be. (sigh)

i noticed that a bit, but for me there were a bunch of standouts. overall, i liked a lot of the photos in this challenge, although i agree that many didn't seem to fit my idea of street photography.

Stats: You have rated 136 of 136 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 9 images (7%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.0588.

i might go back and comment more

Strong words from you, who is usually on the more nurturing and positive side of things and I of course, agree with you.

I wonder if the entries are a testimony to how hard the genre is to do OR how hard it is to understand...or if folks didn't/don't put in the effort to study the styles nuance and complexity?

Anyway, I gave 13 scores of 6 or above and I'm not sure why. Must've been an upbeat song playing while I was voting. ;)
