Hey all

I am getting my spare bedroom/studio painted by a friend who is doing so as a housewarming gift. The space is 8x9 ft with a slanted roof and skylight. There is also a recessed closet.

So far my idea is to have her paint the interior of the closet with the most matte black paint she can find, and basically the rest of the studio an equally matte white.

Anyone have any other ideas for painting? *off to shoot pic of studio as is now*

Here's my rather messy, cluttered studio...oh gawd I have to clear it allll out...*groan*

A light/neutral gray color (18%) is considered the most accurate environment for controling/reproducing/evaluating color -- similar to the "gray card" you use to set a custom White Balance setting.

Our studio was 18% gray in the shooting area, yup. Much less aggressive in reflections, for one thing. Generally easier to control light in.

Thanks, glad to see a consensus between both of you! 18% grey...got it. Hopefully she does.
