I have the option of getting a Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC for around US $700... this is a pretty good price as far as I can see. It's in great condition, nothing wrong with the optics at all.

The issue is, it is the earlier 'non-D' version... now, I never really use matrix metering at all, so that's not an issue.

However, I haven't been able to find any information on a change of optical formula, or any comparison between the two. Does anyone know of any other differences?

This site has very good info on most of the more common, and some not so common Nikkors. Read first, the way he rates the lenses.

I've read that the DC on that lens is awesome for portrait work. I saw one for sale not too long ago... want to say $800 and listed as excellent condition if I recall correctly.
