I think this is a very good site to learn at, if you can take criticism/critque.
Would also suggest turning off the CAPS LOCK, so you aren't yelling at everyone.
Welcome to DPC, Randy.

Welcome! First, check you caps-lock key, most people find all-caps annoying.
There's no reason you can't use this site so long as you are actually willing to hear what people don't like about your photo. Most people will offer this in the form of helpful suggestions as to how to improve the photo, and the occasional person will be downright rude. If you can go with the flow and not take things too seriously, you will have a lot of fun and learn a lot.
Look under the "Learn" menu and read some of the Tutorials and "How Did They Do That?" articles; look under the "Challenge" menu and check out some of the archived competitions. Under the "Photos" menu if you go to "Browse" you'll see the most recently commented-on photos. If there's a subject you're particularly interested, you can search the forums to see if there's been a past discussion.
Above all, read the rules page carefully, as we have different requirements for different challenges. Most (but not all) people also recemmend reading your camera's manual and becoming familiar with the basic controls. |

Ditto about the CAPS LOCK.
Welcome to our site. You will definitely learn a lot here if you come in with the right attitude. I'd recommend commenting on others' photographs and entering challenges with an open mind to people's critiques. Have fun. Warning: this site is very addictive.

Welcome Randod300! :)
You say you are new to digital photography, but have you worked with film? If so, you may not be starting from ground zero.
As you will quickly see, digital has a fast learning curve.. both for the use of your camera, and because of the instant feedback reinforcing what you are doing, should be doing, or should not be doing.
Great choice of a camera - Did anyone suggest it to you?
Have fun, be sure to read and understand the rules, and know that we are all here to help and answer any questions about photography or this site.
Enjoy!
