OK, I've figured out most of what is in my yard over these last months, but I have one plant I can't figure out yet. Here are two shots:



You'll notice from the close one that the stems are red, the leaves are opposite and the berries are in clusters and appear to be white (it's possible they may change color later). The whole bush is about 4-5 feet tall.

I've got a whole row of it. Ideas as to what it it?

It is

"if you put a few ladybugs on it, could get you a ribbon" plant :P

maybe an elderberry of some kind

I've had chokecherries in my last yard and they flowered a ton in March/April. These didn't do anything like that.

Looks like Red Osier Dogwood, it grows wild here.

No problem. Do you get snow? The bare red branches look really nice against the snow.

When we were kids we called those white berries poison berries. If you squeeze them just right you can send the seed flying out. We used to run around chasing each other doing that. :)

OH yes! Absolutely beautiful in Winter.

Yeah, they even look pretty against the grey, rainy west coast skies :)
