So, I'm about to upgrade my laptop's drive, and was wondering if people had some recommendations for free cloning software. I was considering trying Clonezilla Live, but feel it might be overkill and am not too sure if I should use a more simplistic program. I've never cloned a drive before, so simplicity is preferred here but I'm rather tech minded so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to learn some things.
Thanks.

Ghost is pretty well respected I believe.

Edit - ah you said free... sorry.

Yeah, free isn't necessary I guess, but it's a hard sell for me to buy something I won't be using very frequently. If I was doing this a lot more, I wouldn't mind as much I guess. I am familiar with Ghost, and Clonezilla is apparently similar just better suited for mass cloning (which I don't need, hence the overkill comment).

Acronis. Not free but there's a free 15 day trial.

I agree Acronis has the best cloning software free. We use it all the time.

Okay, so for anybody who cares.... Acronis does ,indeed, kick ass as freakin_hilarious noted.
Absolutely painless and it was essentially a click and forget it process.
One thing to note: the trial period on the site says for 15 days, and you get an e-mail saying 15 days, but the software says 30 days when you use it.
Just an FYI.
Again, extremely happy with results.
