I have a Tenba Sling bag for when I don't want to carry around everything. It also converts to a long lens bag.

I've got this one plus the tamrac velocity 7...and I prefer the tamrac but it's too small....i've looked at the velocity 9 (only online) and I wonder if it would be big enough to pack all my sh*t. The only reason I use my slingshot is because it carries 'almost' all of my stuff but when I actually go shoot I use the tamrac....I like being able to just move it from front to back easily....(i don't care for backpack style wearing)

I bought the velocity 7 just before I got my SLR, and then it was too small. I liked it but they didn't have the larger on in stock at the time, so I traded it in and got the Slingshot 100. So far my zippers are holding and the straps are secure.

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing my ass off!

I got the Velocity 8x. It's perfect for my 100-400 mounted and two smaller lenses. I'm very happy about the more compact size. I hope it can withstand the manly ruggedness of The Slippy.

Good luck with the new bag!! let us know how it holds.

About lowepro, I have the Slingshot 100AW and the zipper went bad after a couple of years of abuse and Lowepro replaced it with a new one. I only paid the postage to them which was almost nothing. I'd would suggest you try to contact them again. I actually called and they got it sorted very quickly.

Again please tell us if finally that is the perfect camera bag ;¬) at least I'm never happy enough about bags.

Just a thought - have you considered finding someone with good sewing skills and heavy duty equipment to repair - permanently - your Slingshit? Proper, big ass, heavy-duty zippers can be sewn in. I know once its altered Lowepro is out of the picture, but with a better-than-new bag, who needs 'em? Or even better, design and build your own.

Camera bags and laptop bags are getting quite similar, in that I have acquired a collection of both items, trying to find find the perfect one. In the course of that effort I have also come to an understanding about why some women have so many purses.

There's no need to talk about Slippy that way.

I am sure Mrs Yo_Spiff is very happy about that!

Not really. Though roomy, with lots of compartments for all her stuff, she seems unhappy with her new Lowepro purse.

No, happy that you have an understanding about why women have so many purses. Gives her license to buy them when she feels like it. :)

LOL! I have five camera bags -- not happy with any of them. I have one purse -- not because I don't want more, but I'm afraid to change, because I know I'll leave something important (like my driver's license) in the one that's at home. 8)

They need a license? Now you tell me! Do you know how much high quality glass I could have bought and used for the last decade, instead of the 35+ purses/pocketbooks laying at the bottom of my wife's closet :)

I am very happy with the Velocity 9x, but I can not say I've really tried the others.

Slippers!!! Stop being such a macho, whiney guy and send the da*n bag back to lowepro, lol! :P You'll get a replacement I'm sure. If nothing else use it as a backup to your NEW one. Either way, you looked content with the bag in your latest film, thus there must be some reason you used it...you paid for it....call 'em! We can't have you walking around with "zipper malfunction", it's embarrassing! :P

(Shakes head and bemuses the fact that some squirrels are so darn stubborn!) Hope it all works out. :)

I've never heard those two adjectives used together before, but somehow it works in this case.

I think what happened is he just wore it out.

But then what would he have to whine about?
Oh... wait... this is Slippy, he'll find something. Nevermind! :)

But I'm thinking of making a bag burning video. Maybe some explosives or something. Do you think Lowepro would accept a burned & blown-up bag? Could be funny. ;-)

It would be funnier if the camera were still in it. You would get some great ratings on YouTube.
