math can answer that. If you have almost a 6 (that's what the rumors say), then 1 is 5 below a 6. 1 is 83% less than 6. This is a tremendous drag on the 6. 7 is only 1 above a 6, 17% higher. 8 is only 2 above a 6, 33% higher. It doesn't compare.

I understand it completely -- my degree is in math -- it doesn't change the fact that it still sucks.

anyway, I guess all I have to do is complain. My Never Before Seen has gone from 5.5 to 6.09 today. We'll see where I land on the roller coaster tomorrow :D

I have tears enough
for oceans of desire, set
upon by red suns.

The good news.
I survived a 10 employee layoff, not too remarkable unless you consider that I am employee # xxx7, there is no employee xxx8 .
Monday or Tuesday, the wife and I sign 100 pieces of paper, i^i

In fact I have little in the bad news.
The sensor on my camera is so filthy, it wont even focus properly, but that will have to wait a few days to fix.
And good God I have a lot of packing, and cleaning to doâ€Â¦. Sigh.

oh I'm so glad!! (that you survived, not that you have a lot of cleaning :D)

Hmmm, is :D) a person smiling and a double chin?

Shot a wedding today - had a rather good time, I must say! Had a lot of help from my friend John (whom I knew long long ago and now lives in Frankfurt). We both shot RAW + small jpeg, which was quite handy - the bride and groom had a computer at the reception and were showing pictures of themselves, the kids, their travels, etc, and we were able to add pictures from the wedding and the reception while everyone was still there. Folks quite liked that. No editing, of course - just a dump of the jpegs. We had both set the jpeg settings to up the contrast, sharpness, etc, so the jpegs would look decent. Neat trick if you're going to shoot somewhere that has a computer available to show pictures.

Here's John ( chutaiko):

And the bride and groom - first shot is mine, second is John's (and I hope he doesn't mind that I edited it.)

Weddings are fun stuff! Are you going to post some more shots? From what you posted, it looks like you did a fantastic job!

I went to Hurricane Harbor today which is a separate water park at six flags. In all the years we've gone to six flags, we never did the water park so I didn't know what to expect. This year we bought the combo season passes for all three parks. I didn't take the camera, well, because it's a water park. LOL! I wish I had, there was so many photo op places and on the way home was the most stunning rainbow I've ever seen. Plus you can buy all day lockers that you can open and close as many times as you want. Now I know for next time anyway.

I took about 300 shots for Grain...and I bet $5 Cdn (meaning $1.77 US, lol) that some jackass is going to say it isn't grainy enough...

What'd you do - go shoot a hay field ? ;)

I'm in for Grain, Free-for-All, and that's it right now.

My Ground-Up is sitting at 5.2, with one comment from our very own LadyK.

I'm still trying to find a stupid picture to use for grain! I shot at 1600 ISO, and it's only grainy if I blow it up significantly. But of course, I took mostly full frame shots. argh!

Hi Gang,
I have to show you all the gift we gave away today. Our eldest son, TJ, has a dear friend, Jeremy. Jeremy is one that we have always referred to as our extra son or bonus son. TJ was Jeremy's best man a few years ago.
Well Jeremy and Lauren had a beautiful little baby girl, Shannon Elizabeth. I have taken a long time with it, but today we gave Shannon her "welcome to the world" quilt.
Jeanne

Edit to add that their theme was Noah's Ark.
