Woo hoo! I got an unexpected Christmas present for myself yesterday afternoon. I picked up a used Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4.0 EX for $500 Canadian. It was with all those old manual focus $50-$100 lenses at my local camera shop. Couldn't believe my eyes.
I was going to buy a Sigma 15-30mm this Summer, but with this deal, I couldn't resist.
Does anyone else have this lens? Your thoughts? I'll be testing it today to make sure everything is fine. I have 2 weeks to return it, if everything is not well. It isn't L glass, but the reviews seem good for it.

Well, I never kept the lens. When I got home (was at my parents for the holidays) I realised how soft it was. I was using my laptop to review pics and never really had a chance to test it properly. My camera store took the lens back.
I got the much better reviewed Sigma 15-30mm over E-Bay. It totally rocks. It's much sharper and it's pretty darn wide. 15mm x 1.6 = 24mm. Much better than my 28-135mm at the widest end. That is, 28 x 1.6 = 45mm.

30mm (close to my 28-135mm at the wide end)
15mm with the Sigma
Both were shot at the same vantage point.

Wow! What range. I've got the 18-55mm from the kit. The 18 (29mm) is good, but I sometimes wish I had just a little more.
BTW. I really love your new furniture. ;-)
