I have been asked by my school to take the photographs for sports day.
I am thinking about hiring a lens but not sure if I need to or if I do what lens I should get.

My setup is:
Nikon D70
Nikkor 18-135
Sigma 70-300
and my dad's lenses Lutchenko
Nikkor 18-200VR
Sigma 50mm Prime

I can also take my dad's D200 if i need to.

As far as I can tell I will be able to wander around but could be as far as 70' to 100' away from the action

Any advice would be most welcome.

Ive shot sports with the d70 and a similar nikon 70-300. Shots turned out decent. The 18-200 and 18-135 gives some nice flexibility. Dont know about others, but I would probably double up. Take the d70 with the 18-135 and the d200 with the 70-300.
