Fair enough.

I'm sure this applies to me as well as anyone else but when I look at some of the rejects it seems obvious (sometimes painfully) why they didn't get accepted. Sometimes we just test the waters over there but if your goal is to appeal to them...that crowd (screeners/voters)which seems to be put at a premium by some folks, it's reasonably clear what they look for.

I just feel bad watching people bang their heads against a wall but I'll be damned (literally) if I'm the only one to share an opinion or a suggestion.

Did you submit your latest street shot?

It's probably a shoo-in but no.

Some things I don't want stamped...worthy...unworthy...4th Place or 138th.

I'll leave this one, between us.

King!! welcome to DPchallenge man! I've been admiring your work at 1x for a long time and I even had the audacity to try and emulate one of your images (notice that I was careful the proper credit). I know you are retired from photography but who knows, maybe you'll find the urge to enter a couple of challenges, but even if you didn't, I am sure your comments and advise will be most appreciated.

::Deleted original as probably not helpful::

I'm practicing the art of zen today and learning to let go...;-)

You did a fine job with your orchestra conductor shot, senor_kasper.
Thanks very much for the warm welcome.

Don't anyone say that the 1X.com forums are less active than this one.

I turned 65 yesterday. My birthday present to myself: No 1X uploads for screening; therefore no possible 1X.com rejections.

Nothing happened. Why do I have this sense of relief...even accomplishment? To be rejected or not to be rejected...that is the question.

I shot some nice film last weekend...just a few family portraits, but serious work-about 10 exposures on a 36-exposure roll. Now don't think for a second that I'm going to have that roll of film processed before exposure 36 is carefully squeezed off. I have latent images in my camera. That's something that a digital shooter can't say.

Cheers...and talk amongst yourselves!

Happy Birthday!!

I tried to post the equipment I'm working with and it became clear that this is a digital site (no options for film cameras or classic view camera lenses). Now, I ask you, when I scan a photograph shot on film, does it not *become* a digital image? Okay, so it wasn't taken by a digital camera, but can anyone tell the difference when the pixels are illuminated on screen?

Should I cancel my membership, or just wait to be booted out?

Many people here upload their film images! Don't go anywhere! Upload away :) I cannot wait to see.

Happy Birthday King!! don't forget to sign up for Medicare before it fades away for lack of funds.

I am sure everybody would love to see your current film work. You will never be booted out of here for not entering challenges; you could even have a portfolio filled with your film images just by becoming a blue shirt member, you can vote in challenges, comment, give advise, recieve commets on your pics, etc.

If you still have your 35mm film gear, I assume including lenses, have you given it a thought to borrowing a digital body to test the waters?

Thanks...I have a few fairly recent images that I haven't submitted to 1X.com that might fit well in that thread.

I've used the Nikon D70 and the D80 and am very experienced using my wife's little Panasonic digital point-and-shoot. I've tested the waters...I just can't afford what I want--at least not yet.

For film, I own a very nice Minolta X-700 35mm system and a very nice 4x5 view camera outfit with three excellent lenses.

Thanks!

I do know that these are not easy to do. I do know that. Really, I do. And in their own way, they're quite lovely. And I do plan to run out and buy flashes and milk and lock the cats out of the kitchen and practice until I can do this.

Drop!

Not my picture, obviously.

And OK, so not really on the practice 'til I can do this part...
