I tried to register at Fred Miranda (though I had before, but apparently not) and they will not let you register with an internet-based email address. I have no other email address. Has anyone else run into this problem and what did you do about it? |

I believe it was DPReview that was the same. I had never set up my IP mail because I hate outlook express with a passion but I finally did just for that. I was about to offer to let you borrow it but I might want to sign up there, too.
Do you have any family that might not have used up their allotment that can set one up for your use? |

Have you tried a gmail address? Some that don't accept hotmail/yahoo/and the like will take gmail. |

It won't accept gmail - that's my primary email account. I realize it's a way to stop spam, but by gosh, it's also a way to stop me from being a user there. |

Try contacting customer support directly and explain your problem -- they may be able to work with you to work around the automated systems ... you might emphasize the point that you are stationed overseas and have fewer options available than the typical US resident civilian. |

Yeah, I had the same problem at DPreview. I was amazed that they would completely disallow e-mail addresses like that. It makes sense for spam but seems a bit extreme.I know lots of people out there that don't have service provider based e-mail. |

GeneralE - there isn't even a way to contact them without being a registered user. And thanks, Mark - I'll give it a try.
gys - I suspect that would be another of the ones they'd bounce back. |

Interesting ... perhaps write up something and someone who is a registered user submit it on your behalf. |

Even logged in, I can't see any way to contact them. Melethia, I can give you a temporary address or a forwarder if you want. |

Wow -- Catch-22 brought to life ... you can't contact customer service to complain that there's no way to contact customer service.
Maybe you can complain to the owners through their domain registration info ... |

I got an email account I could use and managed to log in with it - thanks, guys. But seriously, it's very off-putting the way it's set up for registration. Something to keep in mind when we complain about spam here.... |

I was able to use the email that comes with my internet provider--which is dumb, because I don't actually use that email at all EXCEPT for when I suspect spam emails will fly back at me! In order to get access with their spam-protection concept, I used my spam protection email address!
mainly it means that I'll seldom see any email they send me. |

They never send any emails anyway so I don't think you'll be missing much ;)
Not sure if internal messages come through there or are just stored in their mail system, a while since I used that. |
