speaking of filling up memory cards, about how long does it take for someone to fill up a 16 gig?

For a Mark II set to RAW, that's approximately 557 images. An afternoon for some, a month for others. :)

I'm selling tickets for the LadyK rollercoaster ride - don't try this at home, folks.

It's possible to put the camera on interval timing on a tripod and just let it run until the card runs out. I was out the other day taking bursts of three or four shots at a time of passing pedestrians (while panning). I hadn't changed the setting away from RAW+jpeg, so the card was recording two versions of each shot. That was a way to use up a card a bit quick.

If you take your shots by a process of see-compose-aim-shoot and one shot at a time, then 16 GB should last for ages.

I tend to carry 3x 8GB cards with me, but in practice I rarely use more than one (800 raw pics) on any single shoot. Depends how trigger happy you get with your camera :)

Had fun last night and succesfully survived all the explosions :)
Weirdly I didn't find it as exciting as I thought - you run around lighting fuses, and after that the explosions don't really have a huge amount to do with you, they just do their own thing... I think I prefer the whole fireballs flying all around and audience clapping business, fireworks don't give me the same adrenaline fix. Still pretty though, and fun to do :) Might try it a few more times and see where it goes.

Anyone interested in offering an opinion (and not voting on my entry? I believe I have lost my mind AGAIN and am considering entering another challenge. I have three images and can't figure out which one I prefer.
If so, please PM me your email.
THANKS in advance.

Replied! Sorry it took me so long, I was folding laundry.

Well, you went with my first choice. I thought it fit. Thanks Kelli. Your guess at location was close, but not quite.

I've changed my entry about 20 times now. I finally stuck the numbers in a hat and picked one and went with it. I refuse to change it now, no matter how many times I look at it and go, well maybe... LOL!

I'm thinking that I am going to turn off the score. And try to forget that I have entered something. I think that I would stay with this choice no matter what, but there are only a few more hours to go before I can't change!

I'm not turning off scores. I can't wait to see if people like it or hate it. Of course I'm hoping for love...

Oh well, entered something just to enter something. It'll probably suck, but on the bright side, it's not a bird! (it's really not that I set out to photograph birds--it just happens now--even by accident!)

Two-timing duotones in the results thread. Congrats to colorcarnival for getting the top shot!

Thanks Rob! There were a lot of great shots in the challenge so I was surprised my photo finished where it did. I've been very lucky lately :)

Now I need to catch up on all the commenting I owe everyone... I'm very behind :(

Well, doubt it'll last, but it's nice to see this after a running batch of 4s....
