No slagging off my camera, the xti isn't depressing, it's a lovely camera! :)
(ok, maybe not quite as lovely as a 5D, but still!)

I can walk properly again, yay! :) Thanks for asking.
Made friends with my bike again yesterday - all fine, except I'm suddenly finding leaning into turns just a little more scary than it used to be... A passing phenomenon, I hope.

I'm quite excited - I did a pyrotechnics course relatively recently, and I'm now a trainee with a company that puts on fireworks displays. Got my first ever display to do tonight, eek! :) Just off to buy a hard hat and boiler suit, which are apparently obligatory for this particular new hobby...

What's a boiler suit?

(This thread is worthless without pictures!)..........8>)

Boiler suit is what we'd call coveralls, Jeb, if I remember correctly. Jelena, you pyro, be very very careful playing with those firecrackers! And hopefully you aren't wearing your infamous 4-in heels at work, are you? Now that would make a pic!

OK, now that was just mean! Dad flew up with a tasty morsel - little ones got all excited and happy. Mom flew in, took tasty morsel away from dad and flew off! Poor dad.... And on the eve of Father's Day no less!

Can I whine????

I hate being in the position where I have something pretty cool and I have neither the money to finish, nor the venue to display (for sale, of course) this image.......

This image looks *SO* fabulous, but it will cost $1000 with the printing & stretching, and I just don't have it.......plus with the six by7 eleven foot overall size, I need someplace pretty special to display it.

Wah!.......8>(

I have moved to the dark side, or is it the enlightened side??

I bought a Nikon D300 and 18-200mm VR lens, battery grip comes in a couple of days and the guy in the camera shop sold me an 8GB SDHC card...the camera uses CF cards!! Got to go back tomorrow to replace the card.

Oh, what a boob!

How can someone sell somebody a $2500 camera outfit and not know what memory card it uses????

Duh!

And......I hate you! I want a D300 so bad I can taste it!

Sorry:) My wife hates me too! But, she will soon get over it when I finish building her deck incorporating canopy, so she can sit out on good days without getting totally cooked.

Now, all I have to do is sell the Pentax gear to get some money back in the bank. Although, I do have my eye on a couple of lenses:))

Great kit there, Steve - better with the right card, it must be said, but Nikon have pretty much sewn up all the little problems in the DX slr with that one, I think. I'm with Jeb.

Welcome to this side & we're not telling anyone if it's dark or not if they don't already know...

There have been a few camera models which can use two different cards.

Yep:) But you would think that someone who earns a living selling cameras would know which were which and what takes what:) Anyway, I'm getting a discount on the card, so I'm not complaining too much.

I dunno what size files the D300 makes, but bear in mind that they will probably be huge.

My D70s had space for 1400 images on my 8GB card.....my D200 hacks that right down to 480.

A 1GB card almost isn't worth bothering with if you're going shooting for longer than an hour.....

I know, and that's what I'm afraid of at the moment. I'm gonna start with an 8GB CF card and work from there. I am already thinking of another 8Gb card and perhaps a 16GB in the future.

I don't think I've ever used up the 4gb card in the D200. I've occasionally looked at it and seen there wasn't much space left, but I'd either have had a spare card floating around (1 or 2 gb) or have been close to home, or both. Maybe I'm neither as trigger-happy or adventurous as you guys...
