Hi everyone..
Yet again I have a problem for you all to help me solve. I have a canon 350 d, it takes a CF card. I upload photos manually through my computer and drag and drop in to the folders i like. The thing is my camera seems to make way to many folders on the card, now for example there are 92 folders with photos on my CF. And yes i have formatted it.

Some where i heard you can set your camera to make a new folder every time you turn it off and on, is that true?
If so how do i turn it of?
Do you have any other idea why this problem occurs?

Please this is driving me CooCoo here :D help!

I've noticed the same thing. I sometimes have numerous empty folder on my 350D. I think some of it is due to the fact that I use a handful of different CF cards and the camera gets confused somehow. The way it is supposed to function is the camera puts 100 pics in a folder and then creates a new one. 92 folders is an awful lot. I don't have an answer to that, but I'll see if I can figure out what is going on.

I don't have a rebel so don't know this for sure, but I read somewhere that this was an annoyance that was fixed in the xti model. As I recall, some people said that they manually deleted the extra folders from the card via the computer because formatting didn't always get rid of the folders.

I've been a little puzzled by this problem as well. I have the 400d and have noticed when the image number gets up to IMG_9999 a new folder is created and the first image in that folder is IMG_0001.
I imagine this is done so image numbers are not duplicated in the same folder.

I normally delete the extra folder once I have emptied it to ensure I don't accidentally lose shots that I may have left in a folder and forgotten about.
If anyone can add to solving the mystery or let us know if there is a setting to alter this process I would be interested in the solution as well.
