Hey guys,
Quick question: how do I set up my sb 600 flash so that it triggers at the end of my long exposure?

Rear sync flash. Something like this I would guess:

(And...wow! I just learned something new because I always wondered how the heck to use rear curtain sync on my camera!)

Depending on length of your exposure, you could always time it and manually fire the flash towards the end. But Rear Curtain Sync is more fool proof. |

Thanks, but it seems to concern built in flashes. How do you set up a sb-600 to release at the end of your exposure? ANyone know? |

You set your camera up the same way as using the internal flash. It sets the timing of the signal to the accessory flash as well.

I always wondered what this was for. Thanks for the link (even though it wasn't for my camera).
However, my camera discharges the flash at both the front and rear of the exposure when I set it for "2nd curtain." What's with the first flash? |

Most likely, the first flash you see is actually before the start of the exposure, and is the flash that the camera uses to set exposure. If you don't want this pre-flash, you could set flash power manually. |

Thanks, I figured it was something like that. I finally found the manual to my camera and that's what it said too. |
