Just bought the very hard to find Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3

I was looking at the Leica D-LUX 4 until I realized that it is exactly the same camera, only the Leica is $200+ more expensive. I don't mean they are close, they are the same camera, just with different branding.

I little short on the telephoto end (60mm) but the 24mm 2.0 on the wide end was too cool to pass up.

Here are some shots from the first shot, my kid's first swim meet.

That does look like a compact with a lot of advanced features. A quick glance tells me it is in the same class as the Canon G10. Looks like a great choice to make sure you always have a camera with you.

Exactly right, the 5D II outfit is hard to "grab and go" and not exactly wieldy. The G10 was a serious contender for me as well. The 24mm and the 2.0 on the Lumix sealed the deal for me, plus the DP Review comparisons helped. The G10 would have been nice in that I could use my Canon flashes with it.

The Lumix is a bit smaller than the G10, although not exactly a "slip in your pocket" size.

ETA link to DP Review comparisons.

Hmmm, so it looks like you don't need that 5DII any more. ;-)

Cool new toy!
