Can't begin to describe how much I hate the f*cking thing. My PC is fast at everything except itunes. Once I need to get some videos or music on itouch it is just a pain. Here is my list
- drag and drop does not work all the time. i drag and drop mp3s and cursor changes telling me i can't drop items here. I'm dropping them in my music folder on itouch. WHY CAN'T I DO IT?
- go in and manually add files to the library but i forgot that not they are in the library and not itouch. now i have to drag and drop items AGAIN from library to itouch. I don't want to use itunes as a library WHY DO I HAVE TO? it was not like this before, was it?
- as soon as sync starts itunes becomes barely alive. it freezes and makes it hard to work with. WHERE IS THE MULTITASKING?
- i upgraded os a while ago and was completely surprised by lack of common sense. there are 2 time consuming function need to happen before the upgrade 1. download of new software 2. backup of existing data on itouch. each one takes about 45 minutes. why can't they be done AT THE SAME TIME!

sorry for rant but i think this is the place for it.

IMO, Itunes is bloatware. Here is Songbird, an open-source alternative that is based on the Firefox engine. I believe Songbird has an available extension to allow it to sync to an Ipod. I use a Sansa Clip.

I have not had any trouble with itunes either. I mostly use it to load my CD's and videos to the ipod. But I have downloaded a few songs and audiobooks also and never had any issues. my only complaint is that they sometimes wait a week or two before they send you a email with receipt.

I've been pretty pleased with iTunes on the PC, but it does pause a bit whenever a sync starts, like 10 seconds. I can live with 10 seconds.

Funny, I had a thread about this earlier in the week. The 64-bit version of iTunes installed incorrectly on my new 64-bit system three times in a row, causing much fury to be directed at it. For no good reason at all, the next day it installed and worked perfectly.

I hate iTunes - total crapware.

iTunes + iPhone on a PC is a POS.

What would you think of a software package that loses data, routinely shuts down, corrupts data on the phone and in Outlook which it synchs to?

That, plus the brain dead 3G network of AT&T, adds up to a horror story of a phone ... but ...

It's a decent web browser, email platform, and app platform. It has obsoleted my laptop, which I no longer carry. So ... a great micro computer platform, but ... a dismal phone.

ETA: Based on my last free study entry ... it's a decent camera :)
