Well Hello Everyone!
I've been on DPC for a few weeks now...well almost 3 months, or so my profile tells me. My name is Buddy, I'm 26 years old and I live in Jacksonville, FL. I have always been into photography, but normally with crappy point and shoots. Well a couple months ago my HP 6.1 mp camera decided to stop focusing, and to be honest...I wanted to crush it with a sledgehammer most of the time.
I broke down and bought a Nikon D90 after much research and wanting a DSLR camera for years now. This has been the best investment ever, I get out of the house more and go places I'd normally never go...(I despise large groups of people). However, the camera makes all the people go away...well unless I'm trying to get a pic of the new baby Jaguar and people keep getting in my way :-).
My purchase of my D90 also spurred my Mom's husband to give my little sister his old Nikon D40 and go buy a D90 as well.
Anyways DPC has been super useful so far, I love to learn, and the comments here are mostly helpful. The people here are amazing...I've started to figure out who is who in come challenges.
Yo_Spiff gave me a comment that made me and the gf /giggle...even though I've done bad in most challenges everyone seems to be very helpful. I take the comments to heart and re-edit pictures using the critique from the challenges...and let me tell you...it makes some of my pictures a TON better.
My recent Still Live V image got 7th, and a lot of typical blah blah comments. I do have to say this was my first ever shot using the refractions from glasses and I had a blast...and i think my added twist of the glass refracting the glasses in the back was a neat idea which turned out well.
I plan on paying for a membership very soon as I'd love to enter more challenges and learn some more.
That is all...time to stop blabbig so I can go finish up this week's challenge. |

Welcome to the madness, Buddy! :) This is a brilliant site to learn from and it will definitely help you grow as a photographer. Looks like you are WELL on your way here. My first 9 challenge entries garnered me no higher than a 5.5 and that was back when a 5.0 was considered the standard, not a 4.0, lol. I've not gone back and reworked many of mine yet, so I'm learning from you to keep up with my stuff!!!
WELCOME officially to our little family! |

I thought it was a madhouse? Either way, welcome aboard. I'm pleased my comment was taken in the humorous way it was intended. I guess you are still not giving out her phone number, though. |
