Hi All,
Started shooting this morning and after about 20 shots it stopped working :) When I press the shutter, it focus's fine, but just displays busy..I cannot get into the menu or preview photos either. When I switch on or off, no auto sensor cleaning either.
Replaced batteries, formated CF card, obviously cannot update firmware as cannot get into menu it initialize. Any idea's????? |

It probably won't work, but it's worth a try--did you take out the backup battery? (the button one that keeps track of date/time, settings. etc.)
My old rebel froze, and I was able to get it back by pulling the backup battery.
good luck! |

| Did you try changing the lens too? I recently had a problem with my 40D - reacted in a similar manner but always recovered. Turned out to be my 17-85 lens was the problem and not the camera body. |

I didn't have this specific problem with my 40D but the action taken might work for you too, my problem was the shutter release button just would not work nor would any of the dials, all the menu buttons, display image buttons etc were fine though. So I removed the lens, took out the batteries, took out the CF card and left it for an hour or so (charged the batteries whilst waiting), popped the batteries back in and fired up without a lens on all the dials worked so I popped a lens back on and it was working fine... No idea what caused it and it never happened again, but removing the batteries / lens and CF card separately did not work.
Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out quickly mate.
Mark

They advised same as you Mark..So I will leave batteries out, lens off and card out overnight and try in morning. If no joy then it's off to Canon, warranty has expired also. |

| Good luck mate hope it works out for you, also try it without the card in when you first fire up (or preferably a different card), I was wondering if the reason it came up with Busy was because it could not read the card... |
