This guy is selling a Bogan Monolite x200 on craigslist, and Im not sure if this is worth it. He is only asking $40.00 for it, but I can't find anything about it online. Anyone know anything about this monolight?

Thanks,

Jamie

If you need it, I say yes. And by the way, I think that is not 'Bogan' but 'Bowens'. Hope that helps.

Cheers!

I am so new to lighting equipment that Im lost with this subject. I do need a flash/strobe, and this would work for $40.00. I saw Bowen online and I wondered if maybe that is what he meant to say.

For all things lighting, check out //www.strobist.com, specifically, the lighting 101 section.

Actually, that would be BOGEN lights, people. Well-respected company. The BOWENS are rip-offs of the Bogens, cheap lights. Of course, which the guy is selling I couldn't say... But I'd buy Bogens if the price was right and I'd not buy Bowens no matter what the price.

Disclaimer: this prejudice against Bowens is based on a knowledge base that peaked 20 yrs ago LOL...

FWIW, for what it's worth, I think Lallisig (formerly known as Larus) once said on a forum that he was going to buy some Bowens monolights. Ask him to be sure. From the website I've seen good features of Bowens brand. At least the new models, that may be an older model on craigslist.

That may be the lower end model is the Gemini 200.
They come in 200, 400, 600, 800, 1200 watts with remote controls on some. The have one for about $1200 dollers that can be adjusted to a large ranges, something like 300/600/1100 watts, Gemini 750Pro / Gemini 1500Pro. Please check the website for exact details.
Bowens-USA ( Company is in UK )
