OK - so I can't go into detail because I'm getting an ulcer and hypertension just thinking about it ... but my camera equipment fell onto concrete this morning. My 28-75mm lens was on the camera and is pretty much useless now.

Everything else seems OK. The other lenses appear to function correctly although my macro does seem to have something small rattling around in it but the AF works fine. This might seem like a stupid question, but is there some sort of series of tests to make sure nothing is wrong?

I'm not thinking straight because of this. Part of me wants to just take up another craft. Something unbreakable like marshmallow fluff sculpture.

OUch, guess you have to find out the easy way and use the lenses and see what happens

Do you have you contents insurance, as I dropped my camera body, and also a lens, and both were replaced by my insurance.....

I have it on my homeowners insurance, but I made a claim a year and a half ago so this one wouldn't be worth it I don't think.

On that topic though, what is the best way to insure this stuff? I guess I'm a klutz ... or I'm unlucky. I take my stuff almost everywhere, almost every day, so sometimes things happen.

Ask your agent who handles your homeowner's or renter's insurance about a rider. Pretty cheap.
Also there is a ton of place to have your camera insured. Google should help you. Canon has one but I don't know about Nikon.
