When I purchased my new Leica D-Lux 4, I bought two high-speed Panasonic SD cards as well. I formatted each in camera, but couldn't mount either in Mac OS 10.5.7. To be sureI tried a different card reader and a second computer (same OS) with the same result.
When I inserted an older SanDisk Extreme III SD, originally formatted on a Canon EOS, the volume showed fine on the desktop. I then reformatted this card in the D-Lux 4, and it still mounted fine.
Thinking I had two faulty Panasonic SDs, I returned to the store and exchanged them for two new SanDisk Extreme. Now the new cards don't mount either.
Has anyone been here before? |

Zeuszen I wonder if it maybe your OSX version. My sd card from the Leica shows up fine, but I am only on 1.5.6 (guess I need to do the update at some point). Can you go back a version on the Mac and see what happens? I am definitely able to see mine though. |

Hmm, that probably wasn't it, as I just installed 10.5.7 and I don't have a problem with my sd card. Not the most technical minded person, so now I have no other ideas for you. (Other than to comment, I sure wish Apple would hurry up and add the raw files to the OSX upgrade as I would really like to see them at least in finder - mini rant over). |

Thanks for the responses. I think I may have it. My cards (the new ones) are SDHC. The old one was a plain SD. Both of my readers are years old. I bet, if I replace them with SDHC-capable readers, the issue resolves.?
> Sarah, I know 10.5.7 included additional RAW support. None for DLx4? -No, you're right. I just checked. I looks like support was added for the M8.2 only. |

Sounds like you solved it. I have the same issue - my SDHC won't read from the built-in reader on my computer. I just use the USB cable that came with the camera to transfer photos - seems just about as fast, and the computer is able to "see" everything then.

Yes, this works for me, too. I prefer, however, to use a reader for the long term. It is, by consensus at least, the safer method. |

Ditto. My reader is built into my printer, so for now it's the cable.
The printer wasn't that old so I didn't even think about it when I bought an SDHC. It's a bit of a pain but no real biggy in the greater scheme of things :) |

No argument there. Me, I'm just too cheap to dish out $20 for another reader - and I don't fee like having yet another accessory velroed to my desk.
