I know that I have promised to post MANY photos of spring flowers in Belgium and from my trips to two different zoos and the trip to Amsterdam to meet with Melethia but ... now that I am feeling better and the sun is shining, it is FINALLY time to get my new kitchen renovations done!
Demolition is almost complete and I will be starting the reconstruction today (fiberglass insulation in the ceiling ... ICK! ... itch city).
I have been so tired in the evenings that I just want to flop so not much photo processing is getting done. I will try to take some time on the weekend and catch up a bit on my photo editing.
We are going for all tongue-and-groove (to be clear varnished) natural pine (even inside the two large skylights) /standard white melamine units with grey trim and multitone grey "faux-marble" work surfaces/ and ceramic tiles above said work surfaces of course.
Here are a few shots of what will be our new kitchen that I will update as the work progresses.
... ...
Catch you all later ...

Just make sure you wear a mask and goggles while doing the insulating!
Blech... I'd rather be taking pictures (or even visiting the proctologist) than doing what you're doing. |

Nice find Paul. It pretty much says it all. But I hope it will be worth it.
I am being really really fussy in the finishing so it should look very nice and natural with the varnished Scandinavian White Pine everywhere (anything gotta be better than glued on plastic panels) and more importantly be much more functional and also, of course, be a much warmer and beautiful space to create my daily culinary masterpieces.
It is coming along very well. I will post photos as it comes along. Even though we are gonna park normal white melamine kitchen units in there for now, I think that the ceiling, walls and skylights in varnished pine are gonna make a SUPER warm yet well lit place to cook and just BE.
:)

I know the hassles you are going through with this, we have just had our kitchen done. Luckily we had installers do it for us...that's a first as I have always done it in our past houses. But, like you, age and energy levels play a part here:))
Good Luck with it and remember to include photos of the finished kitchen.

A sociologist at Cal did a study among local builders and found that 35% of major kitchen remodels ended with the couple divorced or on the way towards divorce. Just a fun thought.
If you end up with fiberglass in your skin, it itches like crazy and is too smooth to claw out. Before you shower, coat the itchy areas with talcum powder, it clings to the fiberglass, and then the shower wets the talc and it can pull the fibers out of your skin. For future work look at alternatives, such as insulating bats made of recycled clothing that are safer to be around and keep clothing out of the landfill. |

Have fun with the kitchen, Greetmir, and make sure you share the progress and after photos! Do a bit of editing when you need a break. |

I've been thinking about a little add-on to the house, too:

Nah ... we have a much smaller kitchen existing which will be turned into a pantry. This WAS the sunroom and will be our new larger kitchen.

Ahhh, not quite so bad, then. We have two kitchens, which occasionally comes in handy. |
