Hi Guys and Gals

Can anyone tell me what the prices are on the gate for entry into the parks. We have been before and bought the Ultimate tickets, but this time, we don't want to do the full disney stuff and just go on the odd day..want to do a bit of travelling around, see more of Florida itself, so we are thinking, paying ony for the days we do go etc.
And of course if you have any other good places to visit ;-)

cheers inadvance

Wingy

There are tons of different options for buying the passes (park hopping options, etc., etc.)... you could start here to see the various options.

It's MUCH more economical to buy passes for a few days rather than one day at a time. I remember that much from our last visit.

Thanks Alan, yeap, had a look at that site. For the 14 day pass it's £235 each, so nearly 1k for the 4 of us and as I said, we my only go 3 or 4 days over the 2 weeks, so seems a bit excessive for a few visits. But maybe only option ;-)

My suggestion would be to plan ahead and buy a pass for the 3 days or 4 days when you first visit. If you go in and buy a 1-day pass each time, you're going to pay through the nose each time.

The multi-day passes are much more reasonable, and I'm almost positive you don't have to use those days consecutively.

I know that you do not have to use the days consecutively...you can purchase the tickets and use them over a period of time...my daughter works there and I will ask her for some links for you later today...what other kind of things do you like to do here...there is soooo much to do around here...personally I like the "non-tourist" stuff...so tell me which you want

You probably already know this, but do *not* buy tickets from the places near the park that offer big discounts.

Thanks all ;-)
What would I do without DPC?? !!!

Well, we would not need the 14 day pass , but we could get the 7 day pass, as long as these days can be spread over the 2 weeks, that sounds good. And yes, that is exactly the kind of advice I needed Larry-- stay away from the discount outlets near the parks as we were talking about that.."shall we just wait until we are there and buy from the ticket kiosks you see near the shops etc"

We are going to St.Petersburg for the middle weekend- using my Hilton Points, but as Janine said, there so so much on offer..it is like a minefield. We would also like the non-tourist stuff, but still something interesting for the girls (12 and 13 years old). Obviously, they want to do the 'Mall's' and spend all my money, haha, but I would also like to take them to places showing a bit of history and of course good nature parks etc of the usual beaten track ;-)

When we last went to Orlando..it was purely the full Disney Experience, so would be good to still experience some of that again, but also something different.

ok, I will work on putting some stuff together...we too have 2 girls (mind you they are grown) but I know the kind of stuff you are looking for I think...how about a "cow town" that is just south of where you will be (Disney/Kissimmee) and do you like Antiquing? There is a wonderful place in St. Pete to visit...one of our favorites and some really really good restaurants....I will do some foot work for you....

here is some of the information that I have...Link for Disney...these passes are for "one park, per day" (not park hoppers) you can pick 1 or more days and depending on how many you pick (days) is how much a of a discount you receive. Just talked to my daughter and she said that you do better to purchase them online before you get here, and she said that there are some other 4 day tickets (I think these are the park hopper tickets, where you can go to any of the parks all day long) you can get that are good for 7 days after you "activate" them. So there are some choices....

The cow town or cow camp at Lake Kissimmee is closed from May 1 through Oct 1 (heat!!!) so that is out...kind of a cool place to go visit...

In St. Pete there is an antique shop there called the Gas Plant...it is a really good antique shop, in the old downtown part of St. Pete Link then in Tampa (not far from you in St. Pete area...is the Columbia in Ybor City, FL Link this is really good Cuban food...if you go you must try the Key Lime Pie...no ones compares to theirs!!! There are some shops near there (walking distance) that you can "bum around" In the "old" downtown St. Petersburg are there is some nice shopping as well...good restaurants there too....

A nice shopping district in Tampa is Hyde Park Village Link this will contain the shopping urges.

Now in this area there are alot of natural "springs" that you can swim in or canoe in...not sure how much adventure you are looking for...but great areas for wild life shots...two of my favorites are Wekiva Springs State Park Link and a personal favorite is Ponce DeLeon Springs State Park Link they have a wonderful restaurant to eat at here called the Sugar Mill...all you can eat pancakes (they have other food as well) BUT you make the pancakes yourself at the table...this is a little more than an hour from Disney area but well worth the trip...5 star place...

Don't want to totally over whelm you but if you want more stuff...let me know...there is always St. Augustine (3 hours from Disney)

Janine, you are a star, thanks you so so much..my wife passes on her thanks also. Columbia in Ybor City is a must..only ever eaten in one Cuban place and that was a great eatery in Prague..wonderful experience..evn bought the t-shirt and a Cuban Cigar, haha.
The Springs are just the kind of thing we were looking also-perfect.

I will look at links tomorrow and at St. Augustine but time for bed now.

thanks again x

if you got to St. Augustine, you will have to go to the Fort...they do a live re-enactment (cannon shot) at the top of every hour I believe...Link and they do live talks and demo's here is their event calendar Link. There is also a Columbia Restaurant in the Old Downtown part of St. Augustine Link and they have a living history in the old downtown area...well worth visiting...sometimes they have things going on a grassy area near the Colonial Spanish Quarter Link across the street is the old Spanish Bakery...wonderful bread and cookies...still made in the outdoor ovens right there...and St. George Street is really fun to walk down...the Bridge of Lions is a wonderful thing to photograph Link and I am SURE you can do a better job!!!

If you go to DeLeon Springs State Park as I mentioned earlier (my top pick of the state parks!!) go in your swim suit...you will be able to eat at the table in your suit (even wet) this is a very "outdoor" kind of place, there is a spring head that is a constant 68-72 degrees year round that you can swim in....there are grilles in the center of the tables...YOU make your own food (doesn't sound like fun...but it IS) if you want pancakes you make them and you choose...peanut butter, choc. chips, banana's, applesauce...etc...I usually like the 2 eggs and toast (I make the eggs)...it is soooo much fun for everyone...there are canoes and a small 1 hr river tour worth going on...this is a very fun filled day to enjoy...one other thing to keep in mind is that it takes sometimes up to an hour (or more...rarely) to be seated...so if you are they type of person that when you touch the floor in the morning and need food...eat something before you go...everyone will enjoy themselves more if they are not raving hungry!!!

So do I have your head spinning yet....as you can tell "I LOVE TO TRAVEL" says she who is leaving this Sunday for Mississippi for 15 days of exploring....let me know if you have any questions...enjoy

Note..the Columbia in Ybor City is the "original" restaurant...they have Flamingo Dancing there...but make a reservation if you do that...they are quite busy and it is very entertaining....
