While in Anchorage yesterday for my doc appointment, I stopped by Potters Marsh to see if there were many birds there yet. Kinda early in the season. A few ducks, a couple eagles in the distance, seagulls on the far side, and these wrens swallows were all that I found.
The wrens swallows were quite amusing as two of them battled for the top of a wood post.
Here's some shots. Nothing spectacular but I wanted to share.

They look like swallows to me (but what do I know). Fun stuff, I love nature!

hmmmm, could be. I was not sure, and one of the old bird watchers there told me they are wrens. They have a shiny dark green back, and zip around so fast I could not catch one flying across the sky. If it weren't for the battle of the post I would never have gotten a single shot of one.

Okay with a little googling I do believe you are right. It looks to be that they are violet-green swallows. Thank you for correcting the I.D.

Very fun series of shots, Linda, regardless of what kind of birds they are!

I love 2 and 3 together. In 2 incoming's squawking, attackee is squawking back and obviously prepared for him, so in 3 he goes for the stealth attack instead while the attackee sits blithely unaware.
