I live in South Africa, and this lens is ridiculously expensive here (around 2100 USD). My mother is taking a trip to the US, so I decided to order one of these bad boys and have it shipped to friends of mine, for my mother to then pick up and bring back to SA. But after extensive search efforts, I have not found a single place that has this lens in stock. How could that be possible?
I have sent Nikon USA an email, but haven't heard back from them. My guess is that it is discontinued, and that a new VR version is coming out. But I haven't found any news confirming this hunch. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? |
