I got it too. Dropped by .2 points.

I had it too, dropped from 6.36something to 6.24something. Not too much of a drop really, but it had been staying pretty much steady over the last few days and slowly increasing.

Well, I certainly can do without the 4's I'm getting from the last voters.
Dropped below the 5.6, this isn't lightening up my day.

Interesting, I just got it too. Someone has just gone through the entire gallery giving 1s by the look of it. One day this site will get hacked and these 1ers exposed and there'll be a virtual lynching of biblical proportions.

By the way, how do you track the exact scores you've been given? Or are people just guessing? I can't find any such stat anywhere.

You need a spreadsheet to calculate it for you. I use the one that can be found on HawkeyeLoneWolf's profile page.

It's kinda cool to have a mediocre vote of a 5 actually pull my score up. Some good comments, however. I knew this would not be to everyone's liking.

The inner geek in me took over, and I wrote a python program that automatically goes to the dpchallenge website, logs in and extracts the scores, plot a line graph of the average score, but also with a bar chart underneath it representing the last score given. At the moment it updates every minute. Probably fast enough. Now how much would dpc'ers pay for software like this??? :) mwahahahaa

Now that sounds cool, I was about to ask about getting an RSS feed as well.
Does your routine run on a a Mac OS?

At the moment it's not very elegant and generic. Kindof just works for me, on linux. But if I get time I'll see if I can implement a more solid, platform independent version.

Hey Philip I reckon loads of people wopuld be interested in that.
In fact I'm surprised that DPC don't offer that data to us

Probably because they think it may increase heated arguments or debates in the forums over 'who gave me that 1' or 'why am I getting so many low votes without any comments'. And of course then there are the ones who will get a low vote and will immediately jump to the 'Who's Online' page and start pointing fingers. Where as at the end, the voting has finished, then we see the entire breakdown....but knowing that the score can't change kind of puts out the fire a bit...that combined with a new challenge in voting and a new challenge to shoot for....it becomes 'history' instead of the 'now'.

It's funny how when I first joined DPC I was outraged by getting a 1 or a 2 but as time goes on I just accept that this is the way of things and I have a feeling that I'm not alone in that characteristic.

Would this be a hit on the sites bandwidth? Not for a few, but if say 100+ people starting using it?

What about a RSS feed? Same scenario?

Oops, did not know this. Guess I'll have to take it easy. Maybe adjust the update time. I must say though, that I hit the update button manually even more than the script does:)

talking to prperold (another post came during typing here)
I understand the anxiety to know the scores and the votes... I´m new here and started to suffer this yet... but this will not change your votes and/or your score... Why dont you wait the end of the challenge to check your votes?
I think that knowing exactly the evolution of voting will bore you in a few weeks... and this procedure will certainly be bad to the site, and can be bad for you too (if they bann you, or something like that).
IMHO.

If you are a football fan do you ever watch the game or would you advocate simply waiting until the end and looking up the result as the watching it won't affect the result?
For some of us monitoring the evolution of the score forms part of the enjoyent of the site.
In terms of getting bored after a few weeks I for one still track it with interest after 7 months of never having missed an open challenge.

I do enjoy the evolution of the score, but not so much that I would risk getting banned. I guess it is good bye script (at least I learnt some Python in the process)

Excellent comparison. I had not thought of it that way, but this is exactly it.

That´s exactly my point.
Follow the evolution of the score is really nice!!! So... why create some robot to do it by itself??

I'm confused as this seems to be the opposite of your original point

"I think that knowing exactly the evolution of voting will bore you in a few weeks..."

Or are you saying evolution of score vs evolution of voting?

The idea of a robot or RSS feed would be so we don't have to keep pressing update and transferring the new data to the spreadsheet, just to save some time.

The bottom line here is that some of us like to do this and see what scores we are being given, it is of course not compulsary.
We tend to discuss the various trends of voters, which again we like to do and again is not compulsary.

Whilst I accept that using this approach reveals when we have been given a 1 lets say and can trigger a bit of anger; however after a while you come
to accept the nature of the voters and simply enjoy the tracking process.

It's not for everyone that is for sure but if, like me, you like to do this then this is also perfectly ok.
