I've been wondering for a while why people look at images but don't vote or comment...we all seem to have scores like votes 100 views 200 - what is it that stops the people who viewed the images from adding a number to their view of the work, or is there something I'm missing? Is there a voting restriction for non financial members or something?

I haven't voted much for a while now, but when I did I never voted on challenges that I entered - didn't stop me wanting to look at the competition though ;)

Members challenges can be viewed by non members but they cannot vote on them (so you tend to see much higher views:votes ratios in those challenges

People sometimes look at all images before voting so that's multiple views per votes.

Just a few ideas why it may happen but I am sure there are more.

For member challenges, registered users can't vote but they can comment.
A few reasons...
Some people like to just look at images, no interest in voting.
For some "adding a number to their view of work" can take away from their enjoyment of taking in the work I think.
If you don't have time to finish voting during the week, you still may want to look at the entries.
Other entrants want to see what other people entered, and so they look through the challenge to see what others did, and maybe they will vote later giving you more views.
Some voters look over entries several times while voting, adjusting their votes as they go long.
If you have a good looking thumbnail, you will have more views.
I am sure others have more reasons, those are just some i thought of.

My answer to that one i feel i,m not quite up to the standard of photography to give my honest opinion in voting and giving comments i need to learn alot more before i can do this ..but yes i always view them mainly for learning purposes on how they do it

After voting I will often go back over images and review them and in some cases I will simply go back several times as I like the image

Also at any given time, if you look at who is on line, there are usually a few hundred vistors on the site at the same time as the rest of us. I was a visitor here for probably a couple of months before registering & then eventually joining as a finacial member. Visitors have no voting rights but it doesn't stop them from looking at the entries while still in the voting stage.

All explained, thanks everyone. I was being a little thick there - wondering whether people were looking at images and thinking they weren't worth voting on! Lol.
