A 1001 ways to do it but looks simple...
1. Shoot a good shot to start out with.
2. Make BW...many better ways to do this other than "convert to BW".
3. Some blurring...sharpening...Neat image...

Well, the second one could be arrived at in a number of ways, and of course we do not know what the original looked like. If I had to guess:
- The lighting, focus and makeup is a function of the original. It was shot with a fast lens, with a large aperture (small Av number).
- The conversion to B&W could have been done numerous ways, impossible to predict which without knowledge of the original... probably there are multiple ways to get from point A to point B.
Edit to Add:
Photoshop is a complex program, and it can take months (years?) to really gain proficiency, especially if you just poke at it. Best advice is to get a good book on Photoshop for photographers, and jump in.

Previous thread
To pick up on what kenskid said - - these images are end results. To create them you need to build up your own photoshop skills with the various techniques that are needed to achieve the end result. |

Just so you don't waste your time when looking for tutorials or books....... do you really have Photoshop 7.0?
PS 7 is a VERY old program, and my guess is that you might actually mean Photoshop Elements 7.0 (which is the current version).
If you have Elements, you'll want to look for resources for that, instead of for Photoshop proper. |
