ha! i did not know this and I am still using the black background one. I'm gonna go upgrade - do you have a link to the new file? |

I suspect it's the latest one they have to download for the free trial. The one I have is v3.2.1. I can provide the zip file if anyone needs it. I think. Not sure if it'll work but it should install and start your 30 day trial. Maybe?
Oh! Just discovered a fun thing! If you click on "Menu" in the lower right, you get "I'm feeling lucky" and "I'm feeling very lucky!" and it randomly does something to your phot. Fun!

Melethia - thanks for that. Yes. the background on the program I received is black, so I'll be in touch with them to get the correct one. Oddly enough, I didn't download the 30-day trial, I just went ahead and bought the program so the gremlin must be in their supply line.

I have the black background too, I'll have to check into that. |

Played with it a little last night. I was initially frustrated because it enhances all the noise even worse than clarify does. Then I found the noise reduction adjustment in it. I'll save my edits for posting and discussion once we actually start the SC.
Might be useful to post the settings we used for some of the treatments. Screenshots of the Topaz tabs would be easy enough and save trying to remember how we did something. |

Topaz has the strangest customer service method. You post to a forum (after all the registration formalities) and eventually someone gets back to you. They said some of their affiliates still are using the old downloads so try again using their website as the source.
Sure enough, I had V3.1.3 and by uninstalling it and installing the 'trial' version on the Topaz site, my key worked and now I have a white screen. I haven't got time to really play with it right now, but somehow, I don't think it will crash again.

The customer service method is a bit odd, yes, but they are really good at trying to fix things and getting back to you. I've been really pleased with their responsiveness, even if I don't much care for the whole logging in bit. |

I downloaded the Topaz Adjust Add on to CS3 and I don't get any changes when I use the presets. Lets say I choose "photo pop" and the press aply presets button and nothing happens. Any ideas ?
On the other hand I do not have a history of actions to recheck. Is that right?

Be sure the active layer is an image layer. If the active layer is, for example, a hue/sat adjustment layer, nothing will happen. I've missed that detail a couple times.

I just found this thread. May I play too? I am downloading the trail now, but if it turns out to be as much fun as it looks, I will pony up the funds to buy it. |

I've been experimenting with it today. Just discovered it also has Topaz De-noise built into it. Sweet.
Has anyone tried the De-noise plugin instead of NoiseNinja or NeatImage? Since it can be had as a bundle with Topaz Simplify thrown in, that might be a good deal. |

I am using Denoise in preference to Neat Image most of the time now. It's VERY slow (on my machine at least) but the results are exceptionally nice. There's a Denoise layer built into my cauliflower shot below...

The use of the noise reduction seems to be a big aid in getting the desired look.
Are we in the side challenge now, or just talking about it and signing up? |

Yes, the programs are fun to use, but their supply line is a bit 'iffy' at the moment, I think. I did purchase the bundle, along with the offered program CDs and after my problems were solved with Adjust, (when they gave me the wrong version) I went ahead and downloaded DeNoise and the newly upgraded version of Simplify. Unfortunately, in the meantime, they shipped me the 'old' CD version of Simplify and decline to send a CD of the up-to-date one.
It's a small thing, but, when people purchase the Topaz package, they should be sure they are getting the most current releases.
Now, I think I'll go back and play some more. It's really a fun set of programs.

I have been playing with Topaz this last month - great fun! Unfortunately the trial just ran out... if I can download the new trial version, I'd like to join in!
