So, I went to the zoo today. Nothing out of the ordinary, except I thought I was going to an invitation only, members only opening of the new Avian Center (which they've been building for like forever, or maybe two years). Everything went wrong today. The expressway was a parking lot, and after two hours of literally not moving, my car decided to overheat. Had to ride the shoulder to an exit and get off. The electric fan that cools the radiator broke. D'oh! So I'm getting nervous that I'm going to miss my "appointed" time and not be able to get in. No loss of antifreeze/water, so nothing to fill. The car cooled right off after getting off that parking lot. So we decide to ride the back streets of Philly to the zoo. Except I couldn't remember what the cross street number that the zoo is at. So we're riding, and riding, and riding and realize, hey, we must be going the wrong way. LOL! Catch a postman and get directions (remember, I normally only drive the highways, have no clue about the actual streets). Anyway, we got there at 1:30 (we left home at 10:30 and it's normally a 15 minute drive). Rush in, no line waiting since I'm a member. Get to the avian center, and IT'S CLOSED!!!! I had the wrong date. It's next month! AAARRRRGGGG!

Oh, Kelli, poor you. And no fun with an overheating car either, though I was very lucky.

snaffles Hey Susan I got you PM and we laughed ourselves silly :) My wife says not to bother fixing the chains, that I need "a good

old fashion beating" what ever that means, but you definitely need to get a new bowl as I always have to have water around.

Well I am a horse trainer, I have quite a few whips and all kinds of leather items...muwhahahahaaaa...

Would you mind drinking out of the toilet? Druli does it all the time so it can't taste too bad :-)

Ah, Kelli, but it makes such a great story! :-) Hopefully you wandered about the zoo for a bit anyway.

I think we'll be needing film coverage of Max's visit to Susan's place... :-)

Oh Kelli, what a day you had :¬( Looking forward to some new zoo photos in your portfolio though.

Max/Susan - we definitely need a pictorial evidence of the visit...

Was the whole zoo closed? Not so good. Upside #1: you'll know the way next time. Upside #2: you registered the signals from your car and got off the freeway car park thus avoiding even worse dmage and drama.

Oh and there's the story.

Yer not related to me - that car'd be a smoking wreck by now if I were in charge.

ROFL! Do you know how many times a week a Star Wars movie plays in my house? Oh, btw, the zoo was open, just not the avian center.

eta: here's one from yesterday . And it wasn't a total waste, I got my not quite right entry and my FS there too.

I got my birthday present very early (my birthday is in June) because we were going to the zoo for my wife's birthday. My wife and her parents got together and got me a Sigma 18-200 mm (f3.5 to f6.3) DC OS HSM lens for my Nikon D-60! It's focus motor is super fast (Hyper Sonic Motor) and focus is SHARP! and I LOVE it.

Check out my portfolio in the animals and floral folders in the next few days as I process a whack of photos taken through it (some animal zoo shots posted already)

I am pretty chuffed. Talk about incentive to get out of my slump !!!

Does anyone here have any recommendations on *static* HTML web galleries? I don't need to upload pictures or edit things through a browser (I have shell access to my site). I think I used something like JAlbum before..
