Since you guys (DPChallenge) are probably the ones who see my photos the most. I just thought I would toot my own horn a little...
I submitted a photo to one of the more prominent rowing websites, and the decided to make it the photo of the day. It may not be the best technically, bit I feel it really captures the range of emotions in the scene.

A little back story to the photo:
This is the Columbia University Men's Heavyweight Crew team just having crossed the finish line of the race for the Child's Cup in Princeton, NJ. For a while (we're talking decades here) Columbia has been an embarrassment in rowing and finished at the bottom of the league every year. Last year, during my senior season, we had a breakout year and only lost one race in the regular season - the Child's Cup. During that run be beat Yale and Penn for the first time in 67 years to obtain the Blackwell Cup, and we beat Navy for the first time in 40 odd years to gain possession of the Maxwell-Stevenson Cup. Each of these cups has a tremedous history behind them, for example, the Child's Cup has been contested every year, barring major wars, since 1879.
Any way, this year I couldn't miss the Child's Cup race. Of course I brought my camera with me. Columbia, for the first time in 46 years beat Princeton and Penn to win the Child's Cup. Needless to say I am estatic about what happened and extremely proud of my former teammates. |

Woo hoo!! Huge congrats, both on the Pic of the Day and the Child's Cup!
To be honest, I can't remember if we ever went against Columbia, but there's a chance we did in the Dad Vail regatta in Philly... it was a LONG time ago, though! |

Where did you row? There is a chance, although more recently we have gone to Eastern Sprints in Worchester, MA at the end of the season. |

Coolio, congrats!
This thread caught my eye, as I bought a Concept2 one year ago, less two weeks. I've never rowed on water, but love my C2 for fitness, and I know very well the feelings of rowing a hard 2k on it. I've rowed 10k on my C2 five or six days a week for the last year, except for Jan & Feb when I was up & down with flu. Rowing is awesome for fitness!
