Guys,
What do you think about this glass?
Anybody have any experience with it?
Thanks in advance.

| If you look under equipment / lenses, not a single person on dpc owns any lenses by Rokinon (or at least wants to admit it). That should tell you something. |

| That's a spotting scope (and not a very good one). Your autofocus would not work, and the lens is so slow that it might only be usable on a rock solid tripod for distant stationary objects. |

There's a certain threshold that you get to.....when you consider the cost of manufacture & materials, there's no way this can be a quality unit.

The closest you can get to that MM and price is with a mirror lens. They are more expensive than that example, have non-adjustable aperture, manual focus, and are pretty slow. By pretty slow I'm talking F/8 for the 500 and F/11 for the 1000mm. Here is the 500 on DPC and 1000 on DPC.
500 used for sale
I have seen the 1000 turn up occasionally as well.

| Here is an alternative for you for sale used at B&H, although it's "only" 1200mm. One of only about a dozen ever made... "Pack mule not included" it says! |

That description says it's the longest canon prime... but there's a 5200mm reflex lens floating around out there somewhere too.
Don't forget the Zeiss 1700 or Sigma APO 200-500 2.8 either. |
