Is it common practice to allow models/subjects to manipulate your photos after you give them copies?
I mean, if dont like something you did and changed it themselves. Is that acceptable? |

No.
I do allow other photographers to sometimes change my photos on other web sites where they are doing it as critique and showing how to improve. But a model, never. |

Never. And its unbelievable how often I get a request like "just wondering how much it will cost for you to shoot my wedding, I have a friend who does photography so she'll be fiddling with the photos and laying out the album". Yeah right.
Re your models, there's probably not much you can do about it if they're doing that, but I'd take it as a bit of an insult. Can you embed a watermark or something to make it hard for them? |

Prefer them to ask first, and ONLY as a critique/demonstration. And I am not a professional or even an exhibiting photographer. It is either your work or it is not. |

Just curious - How would you stop them doing it?? Even if you only sell prints, what's stopping them scanning the print?
I understand you might not like it but I see a lot of black and white statements above that in reality cannot be enforced without spending a lot of $ on suits and creating a bad rep. Seems more like wishful thinking :-)
I think someone making a living at this needs to fin a wy to live in the current world.... I don't make a living at this but if I did, I would make sure I relied less on product sales (prints, books e.t.c.) and more on services (i.e. the taking of the images). |

Nobody touches mine. I might let a friend or family member see a little file via email but none of them know how to mess with Photoshop, so it doesn't bother me. I don't think people realize that they are YOUR images. |
