So I generally need 2-6 test prints before I get a good print from a given file on my Epson R1900. Color or BW. My iMac is calibrated with a Spyder unit, and I typically will use the paper manufacturers ICC profiles for color prints via CS4, but I use the printer driver for BW printing (easier to eliminate a color cast via the sliders).

I love the process of making prints, but I would like to improve my hit ratio. I've been looking in to profiling my favorite papers with my printer. The Eye One units are too costly.

However, in my search for a cheaper solution, I came across InkJetArt.Com. They will profile a test print from your printer for $25/print. My thought is that I'm usually happy with my final prints so if $25 will get me there with less ink/paper, I think that is the way to go.

My long winded question...what are you folks doing for printer profiling, if at all. Any testimonials for Inkjetart.Com, or other profiling services?

I tend to use them on for specialized stuff like canvas wraps, metallic prints. the other I use COSTCO. They do a pretty amazing just for a low cost and they will mail it to you home.

I use the R1800 printer and have no issues.

Is it possible that you are double profiling? Having both the printer and photoshop manage colours?

What settings are you using in photoshop?

No, I use CS4 for color printing and the printer driver for BW. Do you print BW with your R1800?

Yes, I have printed BW without a colour cast using LR to manage colours and ICM turned off in the print driver.

Using Epson papers produces the best results.

Fair enough. I'll give it a try again. Thanks!

Any updates bspurgeon? I also have the R1900 and I just got CS4. I have never really been happy with the color output of the pictures and hate to contently reprint them. I am also using a mac by the way.
