The link soup posted looks like a nice little cam. Apart from it not being waterproof, However just like most still cameras, you can pick up a waterproof shell for most camcorders, Then not only will it be waterproof it will be able to dive 20 or 30 meters below surface, A friend of mine has one for his handycam and he has shot some cool underwater video of his kids swimming in their pool. ETA: he also freaked the hell out of his wife when he dropped the camera into the pool without her knowing that he bought the waterproof case.

Do not get a JVC....I am regretting ever getting one. They seem to think they are above everyone else and movies are recorded in .MOD format. Their supplied editor is useless and most editing programs won't even recognise a MOD. Some people change the format by typing in mpeg or whatever and yeah...it will usually then play in Windows Media player....but even those won't open into your chosen editing program. You can buy programs online that will convert them...but the hassle you have to go through to do this before you can even think about editing...let alone the degrading of the quality by rehandling all the files....grrrr!!! Steer clear of them.

lol ok, I want those 15 seconds back. As for the first video you posted. Did you get the urge to dial 911 while you were watching it? I did about 4 minutes into it.

sidenote to Slippy, your daughter Shelby acts alot like my Daughter whos is also named Shelby.

The biggest problem here is, Slippy, you are getting older and probably have the shakes?

I bought a camcorder last year and couldn't hold the damn thing steady. It had no viewing eyepiece, all filming had to be done via the LCD screen. Believe me, that doesn't work well.

Buy a dot to dot book and use that to make purty pictures:))

I have a sony HDD. I LOVE IT. Not within your budget, and its not waterproof, but everything else is a dream and it makes me look like a video pro because it takes the shakes out.

I like this one Not sure it meets your specs though. Might be hard to find one since the product cycle for these is apparently 12 months.

Check out this site for some pretty good reviews.

Thanks for the replies ( and the links, Soup, haha! ).

Actually, I went out and got one yesterday a couple of hours after I posted above. I got this Panasonic.

The guy at Henry's knocked $50 off because I knew of another place that had it at that price. I'm not so concerned about high quality, as I am about having something I will actually put in my pocket and take with me places to video the kidlets. I want to do more videos and hand out DVDs to relatives, and my point and shoot is pretty limiting, as you can see by Soup's links, haha! :-D
