Hey all.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I am thrilled to say that I will be spending time in Iceland from this Friday the 20th until the following Thursday. I will be there touring with the Brown University Jazz Band playing around Reykjavik (including at Tónlistarskóli FIH Raudagerdi 27 on Saturday). We'll be based in Reykjavik for the week.

While we have several performances lined up, we also have several days to go exploring and naturally I will be bringing some equipment along with me. As of now I have no set itinerary. If anyone here could make some suggestions or would even like to meet up sometime next weekend or during the week that would be great. I also don't plan on renting a car.

Any help that you can offer is great. If anyone wants to have a beer and spend some time taking photos, I'm game and willing to go anywhere as it will be my first time in the country. Thanks for your time.

Lee

Well the blue lagoon is a short drive from the Keflavik airport so defiantly hit that up. I suggest making a trip out east, there are a lot of beautiful Icelandic landmarks/waterfalls/scenery out towards Vik if you could just drive east on road 1 you cant go wrong.

Thanks -- I assume there are buses that go along road 1 as well.

Besides destinations, does anyone have any suggestions as far as dealing with the USD-Krona exchange rate?

I just waited till i found an ATM and got some money from there. You will pay about 1-2 dollars for a international fee but its chump change

There are definitely places in Reykjavík which are easy to get to and worth a trip with a camera. The most popular one is the sculpture "Sólfar" which is also a good place for views of mount Esja
Then there's restaurant Perlan which has a deck with views over the whole city. I'd show your around, but I don't live in Iceland any more...

Have fun on your trip!
