This is my entry.

I like my entry despite the voting:

I do not brag about the score I was just curious why people did not get it...

Answer: I figured out that everybody will recognize the Tian'an Men Square (wiki info here) in Beijing which was first built in the 1420s in the Ming Dynasty. The Mao image apparently got the attention and people might thought wow mao is not 100 years thing...

Anyway I would like some feedback knowing that the gate is Tian An Men

Regards,

Tibi

Is it that a bad picture? hmmm...

i think even though the photo contains something 100 years old, the structure itself is not the focus, rather it is incidental to the portrait and people. The image just does not scream 'old' the way that normal 'lay-voters' would interpret the challenge. Finally, the image itself just is not very compelling. Looking through your work I don't feel bad saying that because you're very obviously capable of outstanding photography! This particular shot just looks like tourists visiting an attraction to me. Hope my candidness is not taken the wrong way!

It's an ok photo. What threw me was the title: "Unthinkable 100 Years Ago" - What was unthinkable 100 years ago?? I just didn't get that.

That ordinary people can visit the forbidden city. Hehe

I like this picture and agree that it probably scored low because voters did not think (that's a big word in that case) it was 100 years old.

Thank you all.

To AP

You are right about the flatness. I guess I got carried away by the nostalgia of being back to Beijing after 14 years, the whole communist party congress that was going on, my teenage in socialist republic of Romania blabla .

Thank you all.

I understood it, and I like the colors and found it interesting, but not spectacular. I gave it a 6.

It did get a good vote from me though, I think mostly because I liked seeing something a bit different from what the rest of us did for this one. It made some point, though I was not sure what the point was.

For those who think the "subject" was not 100 years old, I offer that observation that Mao was born in 1893, so he actually qualifies under the "age rule" anyway...

I liked the shot, btw, I liked the concept of it more thane execution but gave it decent score for being out of the box.
