I sent in a ticket on a question about editing rules the day before yesterday and havent received any answer yet. I know you are probably very busy with the 1000th challenge but can someone please answer before the end of today? Thanks!

What sort of question did you have? Most of the members here can answer for you.

Its for advanced editing. I did a click on something with the dodge brush that then gave it a little bit of a glow look. I am not sure if that is allowed.

OMG, thanks for reporting. Better get it yanked immediately!!
Lol, no worries, you're in the clear as dodge burn IS allowed in the advanced rule set. As long as it does not change the element into something that was not there, you should be fine. Its very subjective but the tool is permitted.

I know. hahah. It seems like a dumb question but the thing I dodged was not white to begin with. The background of the thing is light in color but still not white. This is why I am concerned. I am not sure if that is adding something that wasnt there?
Maybe I can send you the picture and if you see it in a challenge just dont vote on it?

FWIW, unless you significantly alter the image with the dodge - burn tools, you are likely in the clear. The parameters of "significantly" are where the issue can be finicky. That said, those parameters have been stretched out pretty far in the past and this issue is not new. Lets face it, you can overdo virtually every legal editing tool and if you feel you are at that point, pull back a bit.
If not be prepared to be anointed with notoriety as you will attract every virtual entity from the long forgotten DPC outposts. On a positive note, we will all bathe in the sweat of your fingernails and the dew of enlightenment as you lead us to the light. If there is not light .....dodge it into the scene!! har har
Yeah, send me the pix, PM me and I'll send you my email addy. |

Just a tiny note of caution here for others who may read the thread: dodging is OK in Advanced... as long as you aren't creating something in the process. For example, dodging or burning a cloud to tweak the exposure is fine. Dodging in and around a dark lightbulb to make it appear illuminated is not. Dodging the sky to create a "sun" would also be a DQ. |
