I just did my initial run through of the "Action" shots and all I can say is --- a lot of people have no clue what "action" really is all about.

What do you mean by that?

an action is the act of doing something so in my opinion most meet the challenge.

Are you confusing the word action with that of hollywood ;)

No I am not thinking about Hollywood. I am referring to the "details" line of the challenge which says -- "this week capture your subject in motion." I don't want to single any photo/s out while the voting is in progress but there are many in the mix that do not portray action.

There might be motion occurring which you can't see ... by definition these are STILL photographs. If you can tell that an "action" is in progress, then it is likely that there is motion going on somewhere.

I understand that if you take a bird in flight and you capture it as a "still" there is motion defined by the very nature of the subject. However, that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about a cat lying on a sofa -- this is hypothetical -- which to me is not showing any motion unless you want to consider the cats side going up and down because he is breathing, but I would say that is stretching the challenge a bit.
