Thanks for your votes and comments on my image. I didn't shoot it expressly for the challenge. It was one image from a shoot that I did with 'Coronal Rain'.
For those interested, more pics of Coronal Rain can be seen here:
Comments welcome : ) ..

nice pics Mag-o-rama. your lighting is impeccable. The duos turn out nicer IMO, since her crazy red hair tends to dominate a little (while may well have been the point). The ones with the blue backdrop/lighting are easier on the eyes too, for the same reason - the blue offsets the red. The close crops tend to oversaturate the pic in red to my eyes.
...and i hate to say it, but the 2 pixel red border really detracts from the image i think - seems to take all my attention away from the subject. (I hate to say it because i do that kind of thing a lot, and now may have to reconsider. damn) Of course I'm like goldfish with a shiny object and get distracted easily.
Your studio is great, and based on looking at all of your stuff, you're a very good director or your models. No awkward poses or unduly cheesy props or anything.
Good work bro - be proud of your portfolio.

hey mag,
I just had a chance to go through all of those pictures. I think they're great! You seemed to have some good chemistry with this model, and her style worked out very well. I love the hood shots in full colour. The shock of candy red hair is an excellent contrast to the dark hood and the expression on her face pulls the elements together.
I agree with P-ness that the bw shots are less dominated by her hair so you can focus your attention on the more subtle elements of your composition and lighting, but all in all the whole set is good. Especially like the last one, "psychedelic" with the highkeyness to it. :)

Mag, your poster was one of my favorites. Unlike the others, I love her hair. It's what drew me to your poster initially. Of the others, the hooded ones are the shots I like the best, especially the one you used for your poster. The others I really like are the B&W close up and psychedelic01. I like the others as well, but with her light skin some of them seem a little harsh on the lighting. But I'm certainly no expert, just something I noticed. :) I'm a bit biased though, cause your gallery is one of my personal favorites! |

Those are fantastic shots Mag, you really seemed the capture who the woman is as a whole (or at least I seemed to get an idea of who she is!)
You've done a great job accenting her hair which is a fabulous feature of hers. The close crops, and variety of other angles provides a nice all around view! Congrats, you should be very proud!
I liked your poster alot, I gave it a ten actually. Perhaps as a teenager, and a rather eccentric one, it spoke very strongly to me, as being different and imaginative is looked at scornfully by most kids my age! Congrats on truly capturing something that speaks to me so powerfully! I would love to see a poster like that hanging in a classroom at my school, might snap some of the sheep for students into using their own heads, instead of following the person in front of them!
