Liberty, The Bald Eagle I used in my motivational poster shot "Power of One"

is my favorite subject I have for photography. She is a VERY good poser and I could spend hours taking hundred of pictures of her. Every time I go to the zoo, I make sure I get at least 50 to 60 pics of her.

Now a little about her, Liberty is a 5 year old adult bird who sustained a gunshot wound at the age of 2 and is unable to fly, so she lives permanently at the Houston zoo.

Now this is a neat little program I just learned of tonight

Beast in Show semifinalists announced:

The winning animal's zoo will receive $20,000 donation toward animal care, and the animal will be included in a future update to Zoo Tycoon, Microsoft's zoo management strategy game.

Microsoft has announced the 10 semifinalists in its Beast in Show contest. Visitors to Microsoft's Zoo Tycoon Web site can now vote for one of the 10 animals, and the three animals that receive the most votes by November 30 will advance to the final round of judging. The winning animal will be included in a future update to Zoo Tycoon, Microsoft's zoo management game, and the animal's zoo will receive a $20,000 donation toward animal care.

These are the 10 semifinalists' names, species, and home zoos:

Colliet and Chumbee, koalas, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Cleveland
Farrah, fossa, Dallas Zoo, Dallas
Hansa, Asian elephant, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle
Jewel, hippopotamus, Sacramento Zoo, Sacramento, Calif.
Kubi, silverback gorilla, San Francisco Zoo, San Francisco
Liberty, southern bald eagle, Houston Zoo, Houston
Magnet, polar bear, Baltimore Zoo, Baltimore
Starlet O'Hara, African elephant, Zoo Atlanta, Atlanta
Shere and Shaka Khan, twin Siberian tigers, Virginia Zoological Park, Norfolk, Va.
Tombi, rhinoceros, Memphis Zoo, Memphis, Tenn.

That is very cool, except I imagine it would not involve a huge change in Microsoft's fiscal strategy to award each of the zoos a similar prize.

James, if you have a link to that voting, I would be interested in visiting that site. I just spent some time searching for it to no avail. I found lots of zoo tycoon sites, but nothing with any information about the voting/Beast in Show.

This is the Zoo Tycoon Website, but after a quick scan of the homepage, I didn't see any voting of those 10 animals.

Edit: I hadn't fully read Poison IV's post - appears that the contest has ended...

Thanks, I didn't see that article, but I was at the site that it points to, and couldn't find anything there. Based on the date of the article, it looks like the "Beast in Show" thing is way over.
